Chilean income tax and tax treatment of foreign companies in Chile

Any foreigner can invest and own a company in Chile, regardless of their immigration status in the country.

The first step that a foreigner needs to take to be part of a company in Chile is to obtain a business identification number (RUT de Inversionista). The law also requires that in any Chilean company and or subsidiary of a foreign company, that a Chilean or a foreigner holds the tax legal representation of the company with residency in the country.

At the Law Offices of Simon Marin, we help our clients to form these entities, with a detailed revision of the right type of company model depending on the client’s need. We also ensure that foreigners are properly registered in the company, following all the legal steps that allows them to be part of a Chilean company.
